GasGas is part of the Pierer Mobility Group — the same family as KTM and Husqvarna. The GasGas MC-E range brings the brand's distinctive Red livery to electric youth motocross, built on the same proven KTM SX-E platform. The result is a genuine gas gas electric bike with shared WP suspension, competition-spec geometry and the same READY TO RACE pedigree — just in a different colour.
The MC-E 2 suits younger riders aged 4–10, while the MC-E 5 delivers full competition performance for riders aged 12 and up. If you're searching for a gasgas ebike or gas gas e bike for your junior rider, the MC-E range is the electric motocross answer. VoltTrail stocks the GasGas MC-E electric range — contact us for current availability.
What is GasGas?
GasGas is a Spanish motorcycle brand now owned by Pierer Mobility Group (the same group as KTM and Husqvarna). In the electric off-road world, GasGas produces the MC-E 2 and MC-E 5 — youth electric motocross bikes built on the KTM SX-E platform with identical engineering in distinctive Red livery.
Is GasGas the same as KTM?
The GasGas MC-E and KTM SX-E share the same platform, motor and WP suspension — the difference is livery and minor cosmetic details. Both are built to the same competition standard. If you're deciding between a gas gas dirt bike and a KTM electric dirt bike, the choice often comes down to colour preference.
STACYC (Stability Cycle) was founded by Ryan Dungey and built in partnership with Harley-Davidson. The concept is simple: a lightweight electric balance bike that teaches young children balance, throttle control and bike handling — the core skills they need before moving to a full electric dirt bike.
The range spans from the 12eDRIVE for children aged 2–5 up to the 20eDRIVE for ages 6–10. All models use standard 20V power tool batteries from DeWalt, Milwaukee and Makita — so you charge the bike the same way you charge your drill. VoltTrail stocks the full STACYC bike range in the UK — the 12eDRIVE, 16eDRIVE, 18eDRIVE and 20eDRIVE.
Zero Motorcycles is a California-based electric motorcycle manufacturer with over 15 years of experience building electric two-wheelers. The Zero XB and XE are the brand's first dedicated off-road models — a new category of zero electric motorcycle built specifically for off-road use, developed under the All Access Initiative to bring electric dirt biking to a wider audience.
Both models are road-legal out of the box. The Zero XB (£3,890) is CBT-accessible — making it one of the most affordable road-legal electric motorcycles in the UK and a strong option for riders searching for a cheap electric motorcycle with real off-road capability. The Zero XE (£5,590) steps up to 21bhp and A1 licence. VoltTrail can source the Zero XB and XE — contact us for availability and lead times.
What Zero models does VoltTrail stock?
VoltTrail stocks the Zero XB and Zero XE — both road-legal electric dirt bikes. We do not currently stock other Zero models such as the Zero S, Zero SR/F, Zero FX, Zero FXE, Zero DSR or Zero DS. Those are road-oriented electric motorcycles sold through separate Zero Motorcycles dealerships.
Is the Zero XB road legal in the UK?
Yes. The Zero XB is L1e type-approved — the same licence category as a 125 electric bike. You need a CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) or a full motorcycle licence, plus insurance and an MOT after 3 years. No special licence beyond CBT is required for the XB.
What is the cheapest road-legal electric motorcycle in the UK?
The Zero XB at £3,890 is one of the most competitive road-legal electric motorcycles available in the UK with genuine off-road capability. It offers 47-mile range and CBT-accessible road use alongside trail riding.

SUR-RON
Brand Hub
Sur-Ron Electric Bikes
Sur-Ron is the UK's most popular electric dirt bike brand. Based in Chongqing, China, Sur-Ron launched the Light Bee in 2018 and changed off-road riding forever. MCIA official UK registration data confirms that Sur-Ron's Light Bee and Ultra Bee models topped the Competition category charts in 2023, recording nearly 5× more registrations than any other electric manufacturer.
VoltTrail is an authorised UK Sur-Ron dealer. All bikes come with genuine UK warranty support and access to the extensive Sur-Ron parts ecosystem.
What is a Sur-Ron?
A Sur-Ron is a Chinese-made electric off-road bike — sometimes called an electric dirt bike, e-moto or electric pit bike. The Sur-Ron Light Bee X is the world's most popular electric dirt bike, weighing around 110lb and capable of ~47mph. Sur-Rons are used for trail riding, pit-bike racing and backyard use. They are not road legal in standard form — the Sur-Ron Light Bee L1e is the road-legal version.
What is the difference between the Sur-Ron models?
The Light Bee X (LBX) is the entry-level adult model at ~110lb, 47mph. The Hyper Bee (sometimes called the mini Sur-Ron) is the youth pit-bike model for younger riders. The Ultra Bee HP is the full-size flagship at 187lb, 56mph and 55-mile range. The Storm Bee is the most powerful Sur-Ron at 265lb, 68mph and 75-mile range.
Can you upgrade a Sur-Ron battery to 72V?
Yes. The Sur-Ron LBX accepts 72V upgrade batteries from eWatt, DHS and Chi Battery Systems, delivering up to 28kW peak power. Note: 72V batteries require an aftermarket controller. VoltTrail stocks 72V upgrade batteries and compatible controllers for the LBX.
Talaria was founded by former electric motorcycle engineers who set out to improve on existing designs. The Sting range delivers a higher seat height, larger battery capacity, wider swingarm, and four levels of adjustable regenerative braking. The Komodo TL6000 targets the mid-weight performance market head-on.
Road-legal L1e variants are available for riders who want to use public roads. VoltTrail is an authorised UK Talaria dealer with stock held in the UK.
What is the difference between the Talaria Sting models?
The Talaria Sting MX3 is the entry-level 60V model. The Sting R (MX4) steps up to an upgraded 60V system with better performance. The Sting XXX (Triple X) is designed for maximum aftermarket upgrade potential. The Sting MX5 Pro (also called the Talaria Sting Pro) is the 72V flagship — the most powerful and longest-range Sting in the range.
Is the Talaria Sting road legal in the UK?
The standard Talaria Sting R, MX3, MX5 Pro and XXX are not road legal in standard configuration — they are off-road use only. The Talaria X3 (XXX) has been homologated for road use in some markets but is not currently type-approved for UK public roads. Talaria do not currently produce an L1e road-legal variant for the UK market.
Can I finance a Talaria?
Yes. VoltTrail offers Pay in 4 on all Talaria bikes — split the cost into 4 interest-free instalments at no extra cost. Klarna and Clearpay pay-in-3 options are also available at checkout. Subject to status, 18+ only.
Stark Future's Varg is the most powerful electric motocross bike available — up to 80HP, 7.2kWh battery, KYB suspension, Brembo brakes, and a carbon fibre/magnesium chassis. It's the only electric bike competing in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship. The MX 1.2 brings a 20% range improvement and revised chassis.
The Varg EX (2025) adds road legality and 18-inch rear wheel for enduro use. Suspension is tuned to rider weight at delivery.
Segway Powersports is a subsidiary of the global Segway-Ninebot group and focuses on all-terrain vehicles, electric ATVs, and the X260 electric off-road crossover. Their smart IOV system, app connectivity, and advanced engineering set them apart in the electric quad and ATV space.
Replacement and upgrade batteries for Sur-Ron, Talaria, E Ride Pro and Revvi electric dirt bikes. Surron battery replacements, Talaria battery upgrades and quad bike battery options all in stock. OEM replacement packs restore original range and power. Upgrade batteries — 60V and 72V options from eWatt, EBMX, DHS and Chi Battery Systems — unlock significantly more range and performance from your existing bike. Free UK delivery.
72V Upgrade Batteries
A 72V battery upgrade is the single biggest performance improvement for a Sur-Ron Light Bee X or Talaria Sting. The 72V ebike battery increases peak power from ~6kW to 20–28kW depending on the pack. VoltTrail stocks eWatt, DHS and Chi 72V batteries for the LBX and Talaria platform.
60V OEM & Upgrade Batteries
The 60V battery is the standard voltage for the Sur-Ron LBX, Talaria Sting MX3 and MX4. OEM replacements restore factory spec. 60V upgrade packs from eWatt and Chi (53–70Ah) extend range by 30–50% while remaining compatible with the stock controller.
Quad Bike Batteries
Replacement batteries for kids electric quad bikes and adult ATVs. A children's quad bike battery typically runs at 12V, 24V or 36V depending on the model. Adult electric quad batteries run from 36V to 72V. Contact us to confirm the right replacement quad battery for your quad bike.
What 72V batteries fit the Sur-Ron Light Bee X?
The Sur-Ron LBX accepts several aftermarket 72V batteries including the eWatt 72V Race Battery v5 (28kW peak), the DHS GT 72V 50Ah (charger included) and the Chi Battery Gladiator X72 Compact. Note: 72V batteries require an aftermarket controller upgrade — the stock LBX controller is rated for 60V. All options are stocked at VoltTrail.
What battery does a kids quad bike use?
Most children's electric quad bikes use 12V, 24V or 36V sealed lead-acid or lithium batteries. A children's quad bike battery replacement depends on the brand and model — Revvi quads, FunBikes and Razor quads all use different specs. Contact VoltTrail with your quad model and we'll confirm the correct replacement battery.
What is the difference between an OEM battery and an upgrade battery?
An OEM (original equipment manufacturer) battery is a direct like-for-like replacement at the same voltage and capacity as the factory pack — it restores your bike to original spec. An upgrade battery increases capacity (Ah) or voltage (V) beyond the factory spec, delivering more range, more power, or both. Upgrade batteries may require a matching controller upgrade.
The definitive mid-weight electric dirt bike. Unmatched performance in the £3,000–£6,000 segment. MCIA-registered — officially the UK's most popular electric competition bike.

Frequently Asked Questions
Riding on private land with the landowner's permission is fully legal with no licence required. Riding on public roads requires type-approved bikes, DVLA registration, insurance and the appropriate licence. See our full UK Legal Guide for details.
For off-road, private land use: no licence needed. For road-legal models (L1e): you need a CBT certificate and must be 16+. For L3e models: a full motorcycle licence is required.
Off-road bikes are designed for private land use only. Road-legal bikes have factory type approval (L1e or L3e), meaning they can be registered with the DVLA, insured, and ridden on public roads. Road-legal bikes are labelled clearly on our site.
Yes. You can pay in 4 interest-free instalments on all orders. The total is split into 4 equal payments with no interest and no fees. Subject to status and minimum age 18.
In-stock bikes are dispatched within 1–3 business days. Most UK mainland orders arrive within 3–5 business days. Free delivery on all orders. You'll receive tracking by email and SMS.
All bikes come with a minimum 12-month UK manufacturer warranty. Extended warranty options may be available. Contact us for details.
Both are excellent. Sur-Ron is lighter and has the best parts availability and UK community. Talaria Sting R is more powerful and has a higher seat height. See our full comparison guide for a detailed breakdown.
On private land with parental supervision, there is no minimum age requirement in law. We recommend bikes rated 350W and under for ages 3–6, 350W–800W for ages 6–10, and 800W–1800W for ages 10–14. Always supervise young riders.
Disclaimer: This guide is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Laws change — always check the latest DVLA and government guidance before riding.
The Short Answer
Yes — but with important conditions. Riding an electric dirt bike on private land with the landowner's permission is legal in the UK with no licence, insurance, or registration required. Riding on public roads requires the bike to be type-approved, registered with the DVLA, taxed, insured, and the rider must hold the appropriate licence.
Private Land Riding
Off-road use on private land is perfectly legal. This includes motocross tracks, farms, and any private land where you have permission. Most electric dirt bikes sold in the UK are designed for this use.
Road Legal Requirements
To ride on UK public roads, your electric bike must meet all of the following:
Factory type approval (L1e-A, L1e-B, or L3e category)
Registered with the DVLA and given a number plate
Valid MOT (if over 3 years old)
Road tax (currently £0 for zero-emission vehicles)
Valid insurance (at minimum third party)
Appropriate rider licence: CBT for L1e, full motorcycle licence for L3e
L1e vs L3e — What's the Difference?
L1e-A is the moped-equivalent category (max 28mph restricted, CBT required from age 16). L1e-B is a slightly faster moped class. L3e is the motorcycle equivalent, requiring a full A1 or A licence. Sur-Ron and Talaria both offer road-legal L1e variants.
ASA Warning
The ASA has upheld complaints against ads showing electric bikes being ridden on public roads without disclosing their legal classification. Always check if your bike is road-approved before using it on a public road.
Both are excellent — but they suit different riders. Here's an honest breakdown.

Our Verdict
Choose Sur-Ron LBX if: you want the lightest bike, the best parts availability in the UK, the biggest community, and you're on a tighter budget. The LBX is the safest first electric dirt bike choice.
Choose Talaria Sting R if: you want more power, a higher seat height, and you're a slightly more experienced rider. The 4-level regen braking gives more control in technical terrain.
For the youngest riders, look for bikes with a maximum power of 350W, a maximum speed of 8–10mph, and a parental speed limiter. The Razor MX350 (£325) and FunBikes MX350 are proven choices. Automatic throttle cutoff when the bike tips over is essential.
Ages 6–10: Building Confidence
Move up to 350W–800W in this age group. The FunBikes MXR 790W (£435) is a strong choice — lightweight, adjustable speed limiter, and long run time. Seat height adjustability is important for growing riders.
Ages 10–14: Ready for More
The FunBikes MXR 1400W (£799) and FunBikes MXR 1800W (£995) deliver proper motocross-style performance for older kids on private motocross tracks. Full suspension, hydraulic brakes, and real knobby tyres.
Age 14+: Teen / Pre-Adult
Many teens aged 14+ will be ready for a Sur-Ron Light Bee X or Talaria Sting with speed limiting enabled. These bikes can grow with the rider as they progress.

E RIDE PRO
Brand Hub
E Ride Pro Electric Bikes
E Ride Pro is a UK-stocked electric dirt bike brand that sits between the Surron/Talaria price bracket and the premium Stark Varg range. Their SS 2.0 (72V 12kW) is particularly popular with UK riders looking for more power than a Light Bee without the five-figure price tag of the Stark Varg.
Multiple UK dealers carry E Ride Pro — ZippyCycles and Dirtbikesforsaleuk.co.uk are among the main stockists. VoltTrail stocks their core SS range.
KTM's SX-E range brings the Austrian manufacturer's READY TO RACE pedigree to electric youth motocross. Designed, developed and produced in Austria, these are genuine KTM electric dirt bikes built as race platforms for junior riders — with adjustable ergonomics so the bike grows with the rider. The SX-E range is the only KTM electric dirt bike range VoltTrail carries; we do not sell petrol KTM models.
The range spans the entry-level SX-E 2 mini, the SX-E 3 for thrill-seeking juniors, and the competition-focused SX-E 5 — KTM's electric MX bikes built to the same standards as their petrol counterparts. All use maintenance-free, sealed electric powertrains. VoltTrail can supply the current KTM SX-E electric range — contact us for availability.
Does VoltTrail stock the KTM 65 SX?
No. VoltTrail stocks the KTM SX-E electric range only: the SX-E 2, SX-E 3 and SX-E 5. The KTM 65 SX is a petrol motocross bike sold through KTM's mainstream dealer network. If you're looking for a KTM electric dirt bike for a young rider, the SX-E 2 or SX-E 3 are the electric equivalents.
What age is the KTM electric dirt bike for?
The KTM SX-E 2 is designed for riders aged 4–6, the SX-E 3 for ages 6–10, and the SX-E 5 for ages 10 and up. All three are competition-grade electric motocross bikes with adjustable ergonomics to grow with the rider.
Revvi is a UK kids' electric bike brand built around a progressive learning curve. Younger children can start in freewheel balance-bike mode, then move into throttle mode as their confidence grows. Multiple speed settings let parents control the top speed for safety.
The range runs from the 12" starter bike for the smallest riders up to the 18" and 20" models, which add suspension, hydraulic disc brakes and off-road tyres for older, more adventurous kids. VoltTrail stocks the Revvi range — contact us for current models and availability.
RFN (by Apollo) builds electric dirt bikes for riders of all ages. The adult Ares range is the flagship — the Ares Rally is a convertible off-road platform recognised at the 2023 German Design Awards, the Rally Pro steps up to race-focused components, and the Ares RS adds road-legal versatility.
For younger riders, the Warrior series delivers balanced performance and durability built around RFN's core safety technology. VoltTrail can supply RFN bikes from the UK — contact us for availability.
FunBikes is a UK retailer specialising in kids' and junior electric dirt bikes and quad bikes. The MXR dirt bike range spans the 350W entry model through to the 1800W bike for older kids, with adjustable speed limiters so the bike can be matched to a child's age and confidence.
FunBikes also offers a line of kids' electric quad bikes. VoltTrail stocks the FunBikes range with free UK delivery.
Razor is one of the most widely recognised names in kids' electric ride-ons. The MX350 and MX400 Dirt Rocket electric dirt bikes are popular, affordable entry points for younger riders, with steel frames and off-road styling.
Razor also offers a kids' electric quad/ATV. VoltTrail stocks Razor's electric off-road range with free UK delivery.
Eco Rider is a UK specialist in 100% electric adult quad bikes and ATVs, designed for farming, estates, commercial and off-road use. Their electric quads aim to offer the power and durability of a petrol ATV while being quieter, cleaner and lower-maintenance.
The Explorer GT features 4-wheel direct drive and a 3000W brushless motor. Eco Rider's ATVs are typically fitted with a tow ball and winch for working use. VoltTrail can supply Eco Rider electric quads — contact us for the current line-up and availability.
The Talaria Sting R delivers more peak power and a higher seat height than the Sur-Ron Light Bee, with four levels of regenerative braking for superior trail control. A genuine step up for experienced riders.

The Stark Varg was developed by former Husqvarna and KTM engineers in Barcelona. It's the first electric bike to compete at the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, where it has consistently challenged the fastest petrol-powered bikes. The MX 1.2 brings a 20% battery improvement, revised chassis geometry and updated software over the original Varg MX.
Every Stark Varg is suspension-tuned to your specific rider weight at the time of dispatch, ensuring optimal handling from day one.
Free UK mainland delivery on all Stark Varg orders. Due to high demand, lead times may be 2–4 weeks on some configurations. We'll contact you with an estimated date at time of order. Delivered by dedicated specialist courier — fully assembled and suspension-tuned.
